Todd Herremans’ combination of tremendous size, speed and athletic ability led him from the small town of Ravenna all the way to an 11-year career in the National Football League. A four-sport athlete and Class President, Herremans earned Division 6 All-State honors from the Detroit Free Press as a senior at Ravenna High School in the fall of 2000. Signed by Saginaw Valley State as a 6-foot-6, 275-pound offensive lineman, Herremans started all four season for the Cardinals, helping the team to a 39-9 record (including the team’s first undefeated regular season in school history in 2003). In 2004, as a senior, he was named the best lineman in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and earned Little All-America honors from the Associated Press. While not invited to the National Football League’s pre-draft combine, Herremans, now bulked up to 324 pounds, was worked out by multiple teams. Projected as a fifth or sixth round pick, he was drafted in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles (126th overall). where he would play 10 of his 11 seasons. He played every offensive line position besides center for the Eagles and became known for this consistency, durability, and versatility – even catching two touchdown passes. He played his final professional season for the Indianapolis Colts in 2015.
