A 2013 graduate of Grand Haven High School, Cole is widely considered to be the best female athlete to ever come out of the Lake Michigan shoreline town. An equally dominant force in both basketball and volleyball, in an era of specialization, she powered the Buccaneers to new heights in both sports.

On the basketball court, Cole led Grand Haven to an impressive 77-2 record over three seasons of varsity play, including back-to-back Class A state basketball championships in 2012 and 2013. As a senior, the 6-foot-5 center blocked 233 shots, and averaged  9.5 rebounds and 14 points per game, guiding the Bucs to a 26-0 record. At season’s end she was named the Associated Press Class A Player of the Year and finished third in Michigan’s Miss Basketball voting.

Considered one of the nation’s top volleyball players, Cole led the Bucs to the state semifinals as a senior, earning Under Armour second-team All-America honors. One of ten nominees, she finished as runner-up for the state’s Miss Volleyball award.

Heavily recruited nationally in both sports, she chose to focus on volleyball, committing to the University of Michigan before her junior year. There she was a four-year star, a three-time all-Big Ten selection, and was twice named second-team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. At the time of her graduation, she ranked second all-time in U-M history in career attack percentage and fifth all-time in kills.
